A Big Deal: Amex Platinum 100K Points Offer

I will make this short and sweet. This deal comes and goes, but very often, it doesn’t last for more than a day. Also, usually, you have to spend a hefty amount in order to get the bonus. So, to receive 100K MR points after spending only $3,000 in 3 months is pretty darn good. The annual fee of $450 is NOT waived, but you can usually take advantage of travel credits and make up for it.

Even if you don’t, paying $450 for 100K points is an incredible deal. All the details are in this post. If you can get it to show up and if you’ve never had this card before, consider applying. Of course, make sure you can meet minimum spending requirements. Obviously, it doesn’t pay me any commission, so that should tell you just how good of a deal it is for me to post at night.

  1. Wow, what a great deal (and I managed to get it to come up!). Would you recommend I sign up for this (knowing about wanting to get the Fairmont cards in the next few weeks), or should I pass to avoid the hard pull in light of wanting the next Chase cards? Also, will I still be eligible for the bonus even though I have the Delta AMEX card?

    • Doug, sorry, I was tired and went to sleep, so didn’t see your comment till morning. Having Delta Amex card shouldn’t impact your ability to get the bonus on this offer. They are separate products. Of course, you never know with banks, but you should be OK.
As far as your ability to get Fairmont card, it honestly depends on if Chase pulls the same credit agency or not. Hard to say. Honestly, even if you end up not getting Fairmont offer, this deal is far superior. Hope this helps!

  2. I’m on the sideline for this one. I am all in on burning right now. Earning through spend, but gotta avoid the hard inquiries.

This one is a no brainer for those with the cash to do this.

    • @Cheapblackdad I can’t tell you what to do, it will have to be your call. I actually tried to get this offer to come up for me, but no luck. It would be very tempting, but like you, I’m focusing on burning right now. And I also have a lot of inquiries. I’m kind of shooting for Barclaycard Arrival in a month or so, because I can use rebate for cruise tips next May. Decisions, decisions. I’m having a major case of choice overload right now…

  3. With us buying a house and needing to get preappeval soon, we are sidelined on apps. It’s nice having some time to get the credit up as much as possible. I am going to hit some apps so hard after all this is done. You guys better leave some bonuses for me. My plan is to hold off on travel for most of next year to get the balances back up to healthy levels, and hit the card applications sensibly hard.

Barclays is your kryptonite. Good luck.

    • Cheapblackdad, yeah, if you are getting a mortgage, you need to hold off on any apps. Not worth risking something this big for points. I’ll make sure to leave some bonuses for you! After all, I have a lot of leverage with banks. Oh wait…
